Somewhere between wakefulness and sleep is the level of consciousness that hypnotherapists use to improve a person's health and well being. When in this altered state of consciousness the mind and body achieve a level of calmness and tranquility which allows changes to be made that are not usually possible when one is fully conscious.
In hypnotherapy, the therapist does not 'take control' of the client, but stresses the importance of client and Practitioner working together.
